The Sunshine Blogger Award Tag

Oh my gosh, this tag is adorable. Also, the person who nominated me, Chiara @ Heavenly Bookish, is also adorable and I’m so grateful that she thought of me when doing this!!

So, what is the sunshine blogger award? The Sunshine Blogger Award is given to those who are creative, positive and inspiring while spreading sunshine to the blogging community (according to Chiara’s post). I do love me some sunshine, so I’m happy to have been tagged! (:

What are the rules, you may ask?

  • Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog.
  • Answer the 11 questions sent by the person who nominated you.
  • Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog.

1. How did you choose your blog name?

I mean, the short answer is my name is Erin, and I read! I’ve had friends call me Rin in the past, and so I figured I’d utilize it for all it’s worth. I think Rin’s Reads is also just catchy and easy to remember and pretty much encompasses all of what I do here!

2. What would you like to achieve with your blog?

I love sharing my passion for book and getting to scream with fellow book lovers on here. I hope to continue doing that and see this platform grow as I make more and more connections within this community!

3. What are your favorite posts to write?

It totally depends on my mood. I’ve found that I dread writing book reviews until I’m actually doing it, and then I can’t seem to stop. I really have gotten into discussion posts because they usually encourage me to think more deeply about a reading topic I otherwise wouldn’t have! (I encourage you to check out Let’s Talk Bookish if you haven’t already!)

5. Which character do you hate (or dislike) and why?

Oh jeez. Uhhhh *stares intently at bookshelves for an extended period*. If I have to pick a ~controversial~ one, I’d probably say Reid from the Serpent & Dove books. I definitely don’t hate him, but Blood & Honey turned me off him and his growly attitude. (Fingers crossed that the third book reverses this because I really want to like him!)

5. Do you prefer paperbacks or hardbacks?

Hardbacks, baybee. I love it when you can lay a hardback out on your bed and it stays open to the page you’re on *chefs kiss*.

6. Have you met any author?

Booooo no, I haven’t. I’ve been to a Leigh Bardugo live event and a Sarah J. Maas live event, but didn’t actually meet them. I could’ve met Leigh if I was willing to wait, like, an hour and a half, but I was hungry and ready for Portillos (whoops!).

7. What is your favorite reading spot?

My bed! I’m one of those people who puts her pajamas on the second she gets home, so I tend to lay in my bed more often than I don’t. I love curling up in bed with a good book, it’s like my room becomes my own little private fantasy world!

8. Do you like sprayed edges on a book?

Nej, tak. (No thanks in Danish. I’m so ~European~). I probably have, maybe like, one book with sprayed edges? Sure, they look cool, but they’re impractical to read because the pages stick together and they just feel kinda icky. I don’t hate em, but I wouldn’t purposely spray the edges of a book myself just for funsies.

9. What is a genre you don’t like at all?

I wouldn’t go so far to say that I “don’t like” any genre, moreso I just don’t read it. Probably thriller, though I might love it if I was brave enough to read them! I will say I don’t read a lot of classics and feel no real desire to, though I want to just to say that I have (readers guilty, anyone?).

11. If someone asks you which book they should read, which book do you recommend?

This is a tricky one because it totally depends on the person asking. A lot of my friends don’t read much, so I tend to recommend them more NA romance-y books like Cristina Lauren, Sarah Hogle, Sally Thorne-type books because I know that they’ll be more engaging for that audience. For anyone else, I’d say From Blood & Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout because I recently read it and absolutely fell in love with the world and the story and want someone to gush with!!

11. If you could become a character for one day, who would you want to be?

I would become Aelin from ToG so I could kick the asses of all my enemies.

I’m going to tag:

Tasya @ The Literary Huntress

Taylor @ Planty of Pages

  5. What’s your favorite post to write?
  6. Physical book, e-book or audiobook?
  7. Do you have a favorite reading snack or drink?
  8. What are the top three books that encompass you as a person?

  11. Lastly, have you ever thought about writing your own book?

Thank you, my loves!!

I loved your Let’s Talk Bookish post from this last Friday! I related with so many of the things you said and thought it was very well written. Thank you so so much for tagging me, I love your blog so it truly means a lot ♡

    • erin

Thank you!! There’s nothing like a good floppy paperback sometimes, but I agree that hardbacks are superior! 😉 🥰

  • Ali

This was fun to read! I really like reading discussion posts but I have yet to brave even beginning to write one…I don’t know why they are so intimidating to me! Also, agree with you on jumping straight into my pajamas and into bed 😅 Thanks for tagging me, I’m excited to answer your questions!

    • erin

Oh I totally get that, it’s so intimidating!! Definitely give it a shot though, I’m sure you have some super interesting ideas and thoughts to share! ♥ ♥

  • Dini @ dinipandareads

Oh nooo, I’m so sad that Blood & Honey made you dislike Reid because I liked him in book one (what can I say, I like growly bears) but I really hope I don’t end up annoyed with him in book two 😂 Haha I pretty much feel the same about classics! I have a few on my TBR but I don’t feel the need to read *all* of them. After reading your review for Kingdom of Flesh an Fire (and belatedly realising it’s the sequel LOL) I went and immediately added From Blood & Ash to my TBR. Can’t wait to read it! Thanks for the tag, lovely ❤️

    • erin

Oh I need you to read both of them ASAP!! Can’t wait to hear what your thoughts are on Blood & Honey and the JLA books! Sending all the good vibes for when you read Blood & Honey ♥ ♥

    • erin

Of course!! ♥ Maybe don’t listen to the audiobook if you don’t want to hear some growling 😂 Fingers crossed that you love it!! (:

    • Caitlin

It was so fun to read all your answers for this tag! I have been really enjoying your discussion posts lately, you’re doing a great job! I’ll have to check out Let’s Talk Bookish sometime 🙂 Thank you for tagging me, that is so sweet of you!! 💜

    • erin

I feel like it totally depends on the book when it comes to paperback or hardcover! Can’t fully commit either way 😂

  • Ruby Rae Reads

Ah loved reading all your answers Erin!! I LOVE the blog name so much, came up with mine in a similar way. My second name is Rae (my parents called me raisin when I was younger lmao) and you know I READ. And I also thought reading was versatile if I ever DID want to talk about anything else, you know you READ the title of a film. Idk if that’s a stretch welp.

Also def agree on hardbacks and being able to stay open. Though I think in that sense I prefer floppy paperbacks, but hardbacks for sure when building a collection.

    Such a fun post <3<3

    • erin

We stan blogs that start with an R!! (: I love the name Ruby, I think your blog name is perfect!! ♥ Right like I have nothing against a good paperback, I just think hardbacks look so gorgeous on a bookshelf!! The struggle of a reader honestly
