Wrap Up

February Wrap Up // 2021

Happy pisces season, friends!

If you haven’t guessed, yours truly is, yes, a pisces. It’s also just a great time because the weather has started to turn a bit warmer, and there’s been some wonderful book releases in February and March, and I’m just all around doin’ good!

I’ve started to realize that the winter months are simply my slump months. At first I thought it might just be a fluke that I’d been so slumpy over the fall and early winter, but as I think back, this has been a regular occurrence for a few years now. Sadly, I think that’s just the circadian rhythm of my reading habits (is this a thing? I’m making it a thing!).

I’ve been doing some rereads in preparation for my two anticipated releases (ACOSF and Chain of Iron, yes, yes, I know), which has been surprisingly fun. Watch me slowly, slowly, peak my head out of this book-hibernation this spring! Yay!

The Ex TalkThis one was cute, quick, and fun. Probably not in my top 10 favorite romance books, but definitely an enjoyable read!

Bringing Down the Duke: This one probably is in my top 10, if not top 5! Such a pleasant surprise – I loved the romance, the historical setting, and the awesome female friendships!

A Rogue of One’s Own: Again, a total success with this one. The enemies-to-lovers trope in this was so much fun. I’m so excited to see what Evie Dunmore has to come, especially in this series!

Meet Me at Midnight: This book was kind of an off-the-cuff pick, one I thought might be reminiscent of my true love, Have a Little Faith in Me. And it was definitely fun, but I probably won’t ever feel the need to reread!

A Court of Silver Flames: As an AVID SJM fan, you’d think I’d be jumping on the train to review this ASAP, but I just feel like…I can’t do it justice in a review? I really loved Nesta’s story and am happy with how this one went. Maybe one day I’ll find the heart to share my thoughts of this with you all, but for now I’m holding it in a death grip close to my heart.

To All the Boys: Always and Forever: HA, I got my 50+ year old father to sit through this entire movie with me. He just planned to watch while he “ate his dinner”, but ended up staying for the whole thing. I thought this was cute, if not a bit cheesy. Sometimes Netflix’s portrayal of Gen-Z is super cringe to me, and this definitely had those elements. But, overall, a cute finale to this beloved series!

27 Dresses: I gave a bit of insight into this one in my Valentines Day post – I watched this on Valentines weekend with my heart-shaped Papa Johns pizza and a hefty glass of red wine, and I truly thrived. Nothing like a good, old school romcom to soothe the soul.

Wandavision: I didn’t watch the first few episodes because they were honestly kinda creeping me out, but I did avidly watch the New Rockstars recaps. I have since started watching and lemme say, this show is SO good. I’m, shockingly, a huge MCU girl, so I’ll watch anything and everything in this universe.

I’ve been into some fun, upbeat vibes recently, so have a lil playlist called “vibes” (lol) that I put on when I’m blog hopping, cleaning, doing random little things, etc. Above are some songs/artists that are on it!

I’m moving! I don’t expect many people to know much about me – after all, there are SO many great bloggers to keep up with – but I graduated college last May and recently started a new job at a PR agency a state over. Since I don’t live where my office is, I’m technically a remote employee, but am planning to make the move over in May. Again, only jumping a state, but still a super exciting (if not nerve-wracking) event!

Simone talked about the difference between reading a book and promoting a book.

Kate shared her thoughts on white authors writing POC.

Ellie and Imi hosted Kirsty, who spoke about the lack of pansexual representation in media.

Alissa discussed why she loves to cry over books (same, queen, same!).

Jayati shared some resources for people who are looking to get more into audiobooks.

Pilar did us all a huge favor and recapped Chain of Gold in preparation for Chain of Iron.

Erin spoke on the difference between drawing inspiration from and copying fellow bloggers.

Tracy shared tips and tricks for more sustainable reading habits.

Melinda wrote about 21 queer YA books to look forward to in 2021.

This month, my TBR is full of new releases and classic favorites. If I’m being fully honest (which is hard to do when it comes to Cassie Clare), The Lost Hours has so far been my least favorite Shadowhunter series, so I’m a bit nervous for the tomb that is Chain of Iron. Fingers crossed! I never did read The Lost Hero books (the only RR books I read was Percy), so I’m excited to dive into this beloved spinoff. Also excited to dive into The Midnight Library for the Bad on Paper bookclub pick.

I hope everyone is doing well and hanging in there this winter. It’s wild to think that this month marks the one year anniversary of when the world basically turned on it’s head – I hope everyone is staying safe and taking care of themselves!

What did you read this month? What's your #1 pick to read going into March? Are you a pisces and if so, when's your birthday?

Hahaha I feel that – the grishaverse will forever be a comfort world! Ooooh that’s such a good idea, watching them all within the same time would be so much more fun than waiting each week for a new episode! I hope you love em all when you watch! ♥

Happy March Erin! Loved seeing all the romance reads for February, I’ve been meaning to read more this year and I’m really interested in The Ex Talk. I’ve been reading a lot more manga and backlist books recently, there’s one I read about an evil fox spirit and cute little tanuki, it was so good. Best of luck with moving too! Wonderful wrap-up! 😌💕

Oooh manga is a genre I’m not super familiar with but would love to give a try!! If you have any good starter manga, send the titles my way! ♥

Erin, I’m in the same boat when it comes to ACOSF! I want to share a review but I don’t even know where I would start because I loved it so much! I also want to get to The Midnight Library soon because of BOP! Congrats and good luck with your upcoming move!

I’m glad to see you liked Bringing Down the Duke. It’s a favorite of mine as well, such a fun read! I have also been spending a lot of time watch WandaVision, it’s such a unique show and I can’t wait to see where it goes! <3

Happy Pisces season from a fellow Pisces! And happy birthday to you! 🎂
I relate to your struggle with winter months so so much!! I was just thinking about this recently, how I always go into a slump in winter months (not just reading-wise 😅). I read only 2 books in February which is so unlike me, lol. I hope March will be better! Also, good luck with moving! 🍀
I’m looking forward to your opinion on Perfect on Paper and The Lost Hero!

YES hi pisces friend!! Isn’t it odd? You’d think that winter would be the coziest reading months, but nope! Yes sending all the luck w/ February, I hope you have the best reading month! ♥♥

ERIN I only now see you linked to my post but aaah, you’re the sweetest! I’m glad to hear you could relate to me being emotional haha! This was such a lovely post to read though, and I spot perfect on paper which I NEED right this second lol! Hope you’re having a great March love!!

You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this matter to be actually something which I think I would never understand. It seems too complicated and extremely broad for me. I am looking forward for your next post, I will try to get the hang of it!

Ahhh Erin seems like you had a GREAT month in February YAY!!!

I,,, oof haven’t been able to comment this on your post but felt the exact same way about The Ex Talk. I was SO disappointed by it and I had such high hopes. It sounded like the next Beach Read and I tend to be good at instincts. Unfortunately didn’t love. The romance had no chemistry and was too insta-love for me. Like, come on, already steam at 40%? Also, I haven’t quite made up my mind about the age gap, but I don’t think I dislike it or anything. But this one was like… too much for me. They just kept mentioning it over and over again. Lowkey want to do a rant review but also… nope haha. Okay I’ll stop,,,

So want to watch Wanda Vision omg. EVERYONE has been talking about and yes I do have FOMO but I do also love Wanda haha. And ahh kinda felt the same about TATB3, though some YA rom-coms are more cringe and THAT I hate. Don’t think it’s my favourite of the series but still super cute.

SO SO SO SO EXCITED FOR CHAIN OF IRON OMGGGGG!!!

Okay, you’ve heard enough from me so I’ll leave now but lots of love xoxoxo
