All About Romance // Happy V-Day, Loves!

Another year, another valentines day!

BUT, I am a sucker for a good romance story, and thus my shelves are filled with countless adorably-covered books! Seeing as how today is totally dedicated to all things love, I figured it’s the perfect time to rave about all my faves and share some of my must-read romance books with ya!

As you all know, You Deserve Each Other is probably my favorite romance book to date. Coming in second and third, we have the adorable enemies-to-lovers story, The Unhoneymooners, and a deliciously fun romance about the First Son and a Prince of England with Red, White & Royal Blue.

A recent, adorable favorite of mine is Bringing Down the Duke, which I hadn’t expected to love as much as I did! Likewise, I’m trash for Elle Kennedy’s books, especially her well-loved Briar U series. Lastly, there will never be a hate-to-love romance that lives up to that of The Hating Game.

I grew up watching Bride Wars, and the close friendship between the two MC’s was something I always adored in this movie! Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds are an iconic duo in The Proposal and I could probably nominate this one as one of the most popular rom-coms to date. And as I mentioned earlier, 27 Dresses and Katherine Heigl will forever be my comfort movie!

First up, we’ve got Nic and Conrad from The Resident. A truly iconic pair that supports each other through thick-and-thin, I adore them. I’m also a sucker for friend-to-lovers, which is what we’re given with Riley and Danny in Baby Daddy. A cute, light-hearted sitcom, this adorable show gives us unparalleled levels of pining and I’m so here for it. And I couldn’t call myself a romance fan if I didn’t have a huge space in my heart dedicated to the soulmates that are Ian and Mickey from Shameless.

It wouldn’t be a list of favorites unless I counted Isak and Even from Skam, truly my most loved couple and one that’ll stick with me forever. We’ve also got the iconic Peggy Carter and Steve Rodgers from Captain America, a heartbreaking story that catapulted me into an unhealthy Marvel obsession. And finally, I’d be lying to my teenage self if I tried to deny that I spend a large part of my adolescence fawning over Nathan and Haley from One Tree Hill.

I mean, it goes without saying that Barack and Michelle Obama are actual relationship goals. They’re each others perfect match, and if you haven’t read about their story in Becoming yet, please do so immediately. Same with Chrissy and John – truly an iconic couple that I’ll forever follow on Twitter. Lastly, I have a weird obsession with Catherine and Sean Lowe, a rare Bachelor franchise couple that actually were destined to be together and now have three adorable children. How can you not love them?

This wouldn’t be a book blog if I didn’t rave about books, so I’ll finish off this love-filled post by sharing some romance reads I’m excited to get to it the next few months!

I hope everyone is having the best Valentines Day, and that you’re spending time with your partner, friends, family, and even simply yourself!

What's your favorite romance book? What about tv/movie couple? I love love, so drop em below!

Ok I absolutely loved reading this post. I have Bringing Down the Duke but have been holding off on reading it, soon though! Ahh Bride Wars is one of my favorite rom-coms, too. My ultimate favorite is The Wedding Date…I have watched it way too many times at this point. It never gets old for me. Ok but one question: do you watch the bachelor/bachelorette? I got into it several seasons ago and it is the one thing I wait for every single week. I’m way too into it at this point.

DEFINITELY read Bringing Down the Duke, I just read both books in two days and now am anxiously waiting for the third! I haven’t seen The Wedding Date but I’m adding it to my list ASAP. And no, I actually don’t watch the Bachelor/Bachelorette (I’ve tried SO hard but I just can’t get into it!) but I do follow along on twitter šŸ˜…ā™„

Gonna move those books up on my list! Lol I have started zoning out completely so I get only following on Twitter. The drama outside of the show is more entertaining tbh.

YAAAS. Before I comment on any of the other things I love in this post (and there’s a lot!) I have to scream about Nathan and Haley because YAAAS!!! Oh my gosh, how my teen heart sighs in happiness thinking about their love. Ugh, I loved them so much šŸ˜‚šŸ˜ 27 Dresses is also one of my favourite romcoms for sure! I still have to read most of your favourites but The Hating Game cannot be beat! Also, I read The Chase last week (I think) and hmm… I’m sad that I didn’t love Fitz’s story as much but I heard that the next book in the Briar U series is amazing so I’m gonna give it a go!

I hope you do get around to reading The Flatshare, Bromance, Well Met, and Only When It’s Us SOON because they are some of my favourite romances! ā¤ļø Aah, I’m excited for you! I hope you love them lol

Naley > everyone honestly, so happy to find a fellow OTH-obsessed former teenager! šŸ˜… Bromance just came in the mail today and I am so so excited to start it, I feel like once I dive into the series it’s going to be a total whirlwind! ā™„

Erin, this is such an AMAZING post! I had a similar Saturday ngiht staying in with some movies and popcorn (I def regret not ordering that pizza!). I haven’t yet read BRINGING DOWN THE DUKE – I’ve only tried reading 1 or 2 historical romances, but maybe I’ll retry the genre with this one. Love all the other books you mentioned, and I LOVE Baby Daddy!

    • erin

Aw thank you!! I def recommend giving Bringing Down the Duke a try, I felt like it’s a good middle step between general romance and historical! Also oh my gosh ugh right isn’t Baby Daddy the best! ā™„

I just discovered your blog and may I just say WOW, it’s gorgeous! I loved reading this post and definitely related to most of the things you said haha. There are just so many cute things in fiction where I’m all soft, but in real life I’d be like NO THANKS! But yes, Red, white and royal blue is THE BEST and I loved 27 dresses and the proposal, too!

    • erin

Thank you so much love!! ā™„ Yes absolutely like I love love in concept but in my own life I’m so cringe…ahhh the drama! šŸ˜‚
