Wrap Up

August Wrap Up // Hi, fall!

Hi, friends!

So this is the time when I once again complain about how fast summer has flown by. I guess now that I’ve graduated, I’m an actual adult, and summer doesn’t really hold the same meaning as it does when you have the whole “break” from school and all that.

But still, wow. September.

There are so many projects I want to work on this fall, my brain is just spinning with all the things I want to do and start. I’ve had so much fun keeping up this blog, and am so thankful that I have the platform to talk about books with people who love them as much as I have!! I can’t wait to keep engaging with ya’ll and working on something I love so much!

Serpent & Dove: A book that I ordered a month ago and really wanted to get to! Especially since the second book comes out at the beginning of September. I’m so happy that I finally read this one, and can’t wait for Blood & Honey!

Boyfriend Material: Super cute, super British, and super quick read! I think I read this in about 24 hours. I did do a whole review on it, so if you want to read more of my thoughts, check it out!

From Blood and Ash: This one is probably one of my faves of the year and definitely gave me a sliiiight book hangover. I can’t wait for the sequel to be delivered to my doorstep in just a few days!!

Folk of the Air Trilogy: Also put this one off forever. Who knows why? Not me! I did like it and can understand the hype around it, but I don’t think it’s a new all-time fave and also probably won’t be rereading anytime in the near future! Again, full review here.

Red Scrolls of Magic: WHY did I wait so long to read this?! I picked it up to read last year when I first bought it, but for some reason just wasn’t in the mood for it. So I put it back down. With The Lost Book of the White coming out in a few days, I knew I had to read this one soon and I adored it!! It was so fun to see the behind-the-scenes of Magnus and Alec’s relationship and get into each of their heads. I can’t wait for the next book!

Radiance: I’m reading this one right now and really enjoying it! It’s definitely not going to be on my TOP top fantasy lists, but it’s cute and the romance is super sweet!

Elle Kennedy Books: Yes, I did read Elle Kennedy romance books this month. And yes, I loved *most* of them. I read The Deal books back a few years ago when I was on a huge like college-aged romance kick, and just flew threw them. I was waiting for Radiance to be delivered and didn’t really want to jump into another fantasy, so I decided to reread The Chase and then keep reading The Play and The Dare. I’m not gonna do a full review on these I don’t think, but they are what they are and I love them for it.

The Umbrella Academy: A wonderful show!! I watched the first season last year and decided to pick up this season without rewatching, which didn’t end up being too troublesome! I really enjoy the sibling relationships in this and am so excited to see where Season 3 goes!

Work It: Was cute while I was watching it but I really have no desire to ever rewatch. It was fun and I loved the dance-y element, but very cut-and-paste cute Netflix teen movie! I didn’t even realize that it was Sabrina Carpenter and Liza Koshy in this until the credits, but damn do I absolutely adore Keiynan Lonsdale with my whole heart.

Love Island USA: Guys, it’s trash. But, so am I. I watched the first season last summer, so it’s only fitting that I close out this one with Season 2. I skip past a lot of it because it’s just. so. cringe!! I can’t help watching, regardless.

The Michelle Obama Podcast: Queen queen queen! I always find podcasts that I like and then listen to an episode here and there, but I am dedicated to listen to Michelle Obama’s every. single. week! She brings on guests and tells stories from her life experience and is just so incredibly wonderful that I will forever be a listener. Her latest one with her brother, Craig, is hilarious!

Thick & Thin: This one is produced by one of my favorite lifestyle Youtubers, Katy Bellotte! She used to be based in NYC but recently decided to pick everything up and move out to L.A. (which she talks about in this podcast!). She discusses a lot of topics related to self-growth, taking care of our mental and physical health, and just a lot of fun lifestyle things and stories from past and present powerful women! Check this one out for sure (:

Sarah’s Bookshelves Live: I haven’t listened to much of this one, but I hope to in the next month! This podcast is more bookish, where Sarah features a guest every week and they talk things book-y, author-y, all the stuff! I listened to the episode with Morgan Hoit from Avid Reader Press that was all about book marketing and absolutely loved the insider perspective!!

Bad on Paper: I’ve only listened to one episode of this, and it was their “Bad on Politics” episode that they do one or twice a month. This episode, they interviewed Stef Feldman, the National Policy Director for the Biden-Harris campaign. If you’re new to American politics and want more of an introduction on Joe Biden’s policy stances, for sure listen to this one. Stef breaks it down really well and makes each policy easy to comprehend for someone who doesn’t necessarily speak politics! Listen here

I finally made ONE smart decision and bought the Nerdy Ink Throne of Glass Recovered set!! Oh my gosh, guys, these are the most gorgeous thing I’ve ever purchased and I am so so happy that I did so. I adore the Nerdy Ink Recovered collections (I also have Harry Potter, which are amazing) and am so excited to see what Nerdy Ink does next!

For my American friends, please, VOTE!!! We’re coming up on one of the most important elections in U.S. history, and it is so so important that if you’re able, you use your voice and your vote to make change. Here is an article on All Your Voting Questions, Answered, and here is a link to Vote.org, which will tell you everything you need to know to be ready for November, including how to register and where to show up to vote.

So so so so so many blog posts that I adored this month, so buckle up:

Alexx made a list on 2020 YA LGBTQ+ books that deserve Netflix adaptations!

Kate gave advice on how to make friends in the book community!

Sasha and Amber made a mega post of sapphic books by author of color!

Kay spoke about her experience and thoughts on #ownvoices

Chana made me laugh unreasonably hard with her post on books she’d die in because she’s weak and pathetic!

Xandra shared an incredibly cool project she did where she designed a book adaptation streaming service

Aria ranked all of her reading spots and shared them in a super fun post!

And lastly but certainly not least, Vee asked authors super weird questions on Twitter and shared their responses!

Ahhh SO many insane releases coming out, most of them on the same. freaking. day! The publishing gods are out to get me. I cannot wait for all of these to come out and will be posting some super fun reviews once I have them read! (:

Well my sweet book friends, that’s all from me this month! I hope you all had a wonderful August and will have an even better fall. I can’t wait for the coziness of chilly fall weather – breaking out the fuzzy socks as we speak!!

What was your favorite book this month? Any good movies or TV shows I should check out? What’s your ~coziest~ fall/winter Starbucks order?

Until next time! xx

Oh I loved reading this post so much and hearing about what you got up to. You had such a lovely August by the looks of things.

Yess Boyfriend Material, love to see it. Also, omg I also read in under 24 hours, such a coincidence we had almost exactly the same experiences. Ooop you’re reminding me that I NEED to read Red Scrolls, I’m just so behind on the Bane Chronicles welp. Side note, even though its lowkey trashy, I’m SO READY for B&H. And Cardan’s book hehe.

I’m trying to think if I actually watched Umbrella Academy in August lmao I CANT REMEMBER. But I ofc also watched it and wow just a fun time. Omg, you’re reminding me that I need to get into more podcasts, definitely checking out all the ones you mentioned. And wow those dust jackets are STUNNING OMG.

Eeeppp good luck with your tbr (that graphic is stunning btw). Hoping to get to American Royals asap 🙂 All the love friend <3<3
