September 2020…
Also Known As: The Month of Sequels
Hi everyone!! Happy Sunday (:
I’ve finished two books and am working on reviews for each, but I figured in the meantime I would post a fun lil list of all the books I’m looking forward to that release September. It feels like there are SO many great things coming out then, and I can only hope to get my hands on all of them when they release! I have a feeling it’ll be a veeery busy reading month for me.
Soooo I just finished American Royals, and I loved it. I’m shocked, truly, but it is what it is (review coming soon). I absolutely cannot wait to get my hands on this next book, and I’m lucky that I waited until now to read the first one so that I only have a short period before Majesty releases on September 1st. This may be the first time in my life that I’m actually wishing that September would come faster??
(Also, these covers!! I’m so in love.)
Did anyone watch the one series Deadly Class that premiered on SYFY? It got cancelled after the first season, which is sad because I was intrigued by the plot. Luckily, this book seems to be super similar! I haven’t read any of Novik’s other books, but this one sounds super mysterious and almost a bit creepy. I’m not 100% sure what the premise is other than a dangerous and brutal Scholomance and a main character with a “dark power”, but I honestly think this one would be best to just go in blind.
This one has been floating around the book community recently, and for good reason!! Latinx rep? Trans rep? LGBTQ rep? Sold! I can’t tell if this book is going to be spooky, swoony, or both, but I’m going to read it no matter what and you absolutely should, too!
A sequel to a book that I have not read yet. BUT, the cover is gorgeous and I just have to have it. Maybe I’ll throw Serpent & Dove on my August TBR and get motivated to finally read it, just so I can jump on the hype train when this comes out in September!
The cover of this book is so gorgeous it added 10 years to my lifespan. No, really. I’m not gonna lie, the synopsis of this book is kind of all over the place and it took me five minutes to fully unpack what this is about, but once I did I added it to my TBR immediately. It’s a murder mystery with R&B and a launch into stardom, and I cannot cannot cannot wait to read.
Okay, I’m gonna admit that I haven’t actually read the first Eldest Curses book. I know, I know, who am I? I bought it on release day and it’s been sitting on my shelf ever since. I think I tried to read it once in succession with the other Shadowhunter books, but was thrown off because the writing style was so different from the others (probably because it’s also written by Wesley Chu). I definitely need to read Red Scrolls of Magic though because you know I’m going to buy this the day it comes out.
And yet another series in which I need to read the first book! Honestly, I just love this cover. That vibrant red? Yes. I was interested in There Will Come a Darkness when it first came out, but never got around to actually reading it because it didn’t get as high of reviews as I expected. This one, however, is getting great reviews, so maybe that’s a sign that things pick up and we’ve got some sort of ACOMAF-y type thing goin on. I’m hoping to get to this in September as well, or at least sometime early in the fall!
So, that’s it for my list of September releases that I’m excited about. What about you? Are you excited for any of these releases, and do you think there are any I need to add to the list?
Hope everyone is doing well and having a great start to their July!
